HECHO EN LOS FELIZ
Three days here and I've settled into a routine.
It is leisurely and asocial. Probably not worth
describing except that it involves early rising
and forced periods of writing and minimal
exercise. The pleasant monotony of the
weather encourages this kind of sameness.
I don't have a car or a surfboard or clothes
yet; all this stuff is at home.
There's not much to think about except my
moods. Outside and up the block is a
stimulating amount of trash and foot traffic
to watch. Used lotto tickets and workmen,
girls in small clothes, aunties, bums,
dim-eyed babies.
Everything is still a novelty, and a routine
helps me take it in controlled doses.
