ANOTHER STORY
There's this pattern I've started to recognize
in my life. No, in everyone's life. Maybe it
is a sign of maturity or intelligence. That
would be great.
The pattern is that you take stock of things
and realize one day that you are inhabiting
a stereotype that you used to sneer at. For
example, maybe you are a Cat Lady or a
Pimply Teenager or just a Snob.
After the shock wears off you begin to revise
the stereotype, or rather disintegrate it,
because you realize that it recognizes some
common and totally acceptable truth. This is
how you move on with your self-esteem
intact. And it's also a good way to make
friends.
