Alice ate an entire bulb of roasted garlic and she felt
sick. "There's a spiraling ball of fire in my stomach,"
she said, leaning into the sofa. "It feels like a
biblical punishment."

Her boyfriend called. "I just made a huge mistake," she
told him. I thought she should eat some yogurt or milk
but she couldn't. We googled 'garlic overdose' and 'i
ate too much garlic'. She breathed heavily. "I made this
mistake," she said, "so you wouldn't have to."
